WHITTIER, Calif. – Senior designated hitter/catcher, Michael Angulo (Sunnyvale, Calif.) capped off a big weekend for the Poets Baseball team as he led them to the series against Claremont-M-S.

Whittier opened up the three game series beating the Stags 11-4 and then turned around the very next day to split the doubleheader 9-2 and 6-4.  The Purple & Gold have now won seven of their last eight, are 7-2 in the month of April, and have now taken four consecutive series within Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play. 

Whittier improves to 24-13, 11-10 SCIAC and currently sit 5th in the SCIAC Standings, a game out of 4th

Angulo was a big part of the weekend batting .636 (7-for-11) with 13 total bases, three extra base hits, with an OB% of .643, while slugging 1.182. He totaled six runs batted in, scored four times with a double, triple and a homerun, while drawing two walks and stealing a base. He currently sits No. 13 in hits and No. 14 in Batting Average. 

Whittier wraps up their regular season this weekend, Friday-Saturday, April 27-28 when they take on the University of La Verne in a three game series.  They host the Leopards on Friday, April 27 beginning at 3:00pm before traveling for a doubleheader on the road the very next day with first pitches slated for 11:00am and 2:30pm.
