Nine Football Players Honored by SCIAC, Eddow '08 Named to 1st Team Defense
Whittier College had nine football players earn All-Conference Awards from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this week. Chasen Eddow '08 was named to the defensive first team. Eddow had 53 tackles this season and led the Poets with three interceptions.

Football Loses in Season Finale, Poets Give up 20 points in 4th Quarter
Whittier College held a 30-14 lead after three quarters, but it slipped away in the final stanza as the Poets lost 34-30 to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader, Occidental College on November 11. The Poets finish their season 2-7 overall and 1-5 in SCIAC play.

Castelo '09 Named SCIAC Athlete of the Week
Arlo Castelo '09 was named male athlete of the week by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on November 8. The Poets' linebacker had 12 tackles and forced a fumble in Whittier's 28-21 overtime win over the University of Redlands on November 4.

Football Beats Redlands in OT, Scurlock '08 Throws for Two TDs
Josh Scurlock '08 threw two touchdown passes, including the game-winner, as Whittier College won 28-21 in overtime against the University of Redlands on November 4. The Poets (2-6, 1-4 SCIAC) pick up their first conference win against the second place Bulldogs (3-5, 3-2 SCIAC).

Josh Scurlock '08 threw two second half touchdown passes, but Whittier College was unable to come back from a 21-6 halftime deficit in their 28-25 loss to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on October 28.

Football Picks Up First Win, Pomponio Rushes for 129 yards
Anthony Pomponio '09 rushed for 129 yards on 20 carries as Whittier College won their first game of the season 17-0 against Chapman University at Memorial Stadium on October 14. The Poets improve their record to 1-4 while Chapman falls to 2-3.

Football Beat by SCIAC Rival, Poets Now 0-2 in Conference
Whittier College lost 35-10 to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival, California Lutheran University at Memorial Stadium on October 7. The Poets are now 0-4 overall and 0-2 in SCIAC play while the Kingsmen remain undefeated at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the SCIAC

Football Falls in SCIAC Opener, Scurlock '08 Rushes for 129 Yards
Josh Scurlock '08 rushed for 129 yards, including a school-record 94 yard touchdown run, but Whittier College lost 24-17 on the road to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on September 30. The Poets fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in SCIAC play, while Pomona-Pitzer improves their record to 2-1, 1-0 SCIAC.

Football Loses in Wisconsin, SCIAC Play Starts Sept. 30
The Poets lost 31-2 against undefeated Carthage College (3-0) in Kenosha, Wisc. on September 16. The Poets are now 0-2 as they prepare to begin SCIAC competition on September 30.
