Hoover travels to China to learn about U.S./China Relations
Richard Hoover who has completed his senior year in impressive fashion on the football field finishing with 10 receptions for 113 yards and one touchdown received another surprise as he received a chance of a life time when he was asked to travel to Beijing and Shanghai to learn about the U.S./China Relations.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released its Football All-SCIAC Teams this morning and Whittier had three players recognized on both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball including Travis Driskell, Tyler Portman, and Charles Scicli.

The Whittier College football team fell in their season finale to the Leopards of the University of La Verne on a rainy, windy day in front of a fan base of 840 at Ortmayer Stadium.

Late surge by Stags push CMS past Poets 31-30; Brigadier General Pete Dawkins Honored
On an afternoon full of tailgating parties, a parade of Poet athletes, homecoming events, and Brigadier General Pete Dawkins being named the Honorary Coach for the Purple and Gold, Whittier was unable to come away with the victory as they fell 31-30 to Claremont-M-S in front of over 2,500 Poet faithful.

On a night full of homecoming extravaganzas, a firework display, a marching band, and a raucous crowd of over 3,000 strong, the Whittier College Poets were unable to come away with the victory despite fighting the entire game.

The Whittier College men’s football team came out in impressive fashion as they won their first game of the 2011 season 66-48 over the Loggers of the University of Puget Sound, while at the same time winning their first home game since 2008 when they defeated Principia 44-6.

Whittier releases 2011 football schedule
The Poets will play four games at home and five on the road as head coach Kirk Jellerson officially released the Whittier College football team’s nine-game schedule earlier today. The season kicks off on Saturday, September 17, against Azusa Pacific.
