LOS ANGELES – For the second time in as many seasons the Whittier College men's soccer team will play for a berth in the NCAA Division III Championships as it qualified for the 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason tournament.

The Poets, who currently sit in third place in the conference, have two games remaining on its regular season schedule. Whittier will hit the road on Wednesday, October 27, to face Cal Lutheran and on Saturday, October 30, it will wrap up its season with a home clash against Redlands.

The regular-season champion has not been determined but Claremont-M-S and Redlands are in the driver's seat for the crown. CMS holds a 1-0-1 advantage over the Bulldogs this year.

The fourth and final playoff spot has three teams vying for the spot. Occidental is currently in fourth with a 5-5-2 mark while La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer had identical 5-7 records.

Despite the outcome of the final two games of the season for the Poets, they can finish no worse than fourth place in the conference.

The semifinals of the conference tournament are set for Thursday, November 4. The regular-season champion will host the fourth seed while the No.3 seed will visit the second seed. The championship will be played on Saturday, November 6.
