Whittier earns first SCIAC win; Cruise past Caltech 177-57

PASADENA, Calif. –The Whittier College men's swimming & diving team after coming off of a narrow loss to the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer rebounded to cruise to their first SCIAC victory 177-57 over Caltech.

The Poets took 1st in all 13 events on the morning and had nine different winners that included freshman Filip Dajkovich who finished 1st in the 50 yard free with a time of 22.57, Dane Kawamoto who finished 1st in the 400 yard IM and the 200 yard butterfly, Gabe Lane who finished 1st in the 500 yard freestyle, and Alexander Peterson who took 1st place honors in the 100 yard free.

Veterans who were searching to break the Whittier College records early in the season were unable to reach any milestones on the morning but they competed well as Cameron Rehm took first in the 1650 yard free with a time of 18:27:17, Eric Bonander took 1st place in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:56.33, Chris Evans grabbed 1st place honors in the 200 yard backstroke, while Chet Schuster finished in 1st in the 200 yard breaststroke.

Senior Tyler Aisner again came out strong on the diving board as he took 1st place in the 1M and the 3M dives but fell a bit short in breaking his own records at Whittier College.    

All in all a very successful day for the Poets swimming program and they look to use this event to prepare for the UNLV Winter Invite that is taking place in Las Vegas on December 17, 18, 19.
