Poets conclude Day 1 of UNLV Winter Invite
LAS VEGAS, NV – The Whittier College men's swimming & diving team concluded Day 1 of the UNLV Winter Invite in Las Vegas against tough competition that included UNLV, New Mexico State, Concordia, Bakersfield, and Azusa Pacific.
The Poets entered Day 1 of the Invite 1-1 in SCIAC play that included a narrow loss to Pomona-Pitzer 125-112 and a win against the Beavers of Caltech.
UNLV's men's swimming and diving team stand in first place after one day of action on Saturday at the UNLV Winter Invitational, held at Buchanan Natatorium.
The Rebels stand atop the leader board with 314 points, while Concordia is second with 220, Fresno Pacific third with 180.5, and La Verne is fourth with 6.
In the 400 yard medley, the team of Juan Aguilar, Chet Schuster, Michael Eachus, and Filip Dajkovich finished in 12th with a time of 3:56.08, while Chris Evans, Cameron Rehm, Schuster, and Dajkovich finished 12th in the 200 yard free to pace the Poets on the day.
On day two Coach Pudwill is expecting a big jump in the standings as the events include the 200 yard medley, 400 IM's, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back and the 800 free.
