Brynteson and Farmer reach doubles of Ojai Championships

OJAI, Calif. – The Whittier College men's tennis team remains alive at the Ojai Championships with Bo Brynteson and Samuel Farmer who reached the finals of the Independent Doubles draw. 

After a strong Day 2 of the Championships led by Brynteson and Farmer who defeated the No. 4 seed from Westmont in Nick Szyndlar and Travis Kimsey the Poets look to gather their first championship in Ojai in Whittier College men's tennis history. 

Brynteson attempted to reach the singles semi-finals in the independent draw but his run fell short as he dropped a 7-5, 6-0 match to No. 3 Josh Barnard.  Julian Seneviratne also saw his run for a Championships fall in the Quarterfinals.  He took out No. 11 Max Sabel 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 but in his ensuing match in the afternoon he was upset by No. 12 Nikolas Marino from Claremont-M-S 7-6 (4), 6-4. 

David Konstantinov also saw his impressive freshman run come to a close as well as he fell in the other quarterfinal 6-3, 6-4 to No. 2 Warren Wood from Claremont-M-S. 

In doubles, Seneviratne and Konstantinov saw their run fall short as well in the Quarterfinals as they dropped a tough 8-2 decision to No. 4 seed Gram Leahy and Patrick Lipscomb 8-2 from Redlands.  

Brynteson and Farmer seek their first title this afternoon as they take on No. 1 Josh Barnard and Rodrigo Schaefer from Westmont beginning at 2:00pm.
