DELAWARE, Ohio - Freshman Kevin Curbelo capped a sensational season this weekend as he ran his way to All-American status with a fourth place finish in the 400 Meter Run at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships.
Curbelo qualified third during the preliminaries with a 48.33 and shaved off nearly one second during the finals.
His final time was 47.73 as he was one of five runners to break the 48 second barrier.
The top eight finishers are named All-American and a total of three Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes qualified for the eight man final.
The SCIAC Champion in the 400, Marcus Fortugno, finished second in the country with a 47.32 while Redlands' Andy Green finished sixth with a 48.02.
Noth Central's Dan Benton won the title with a 46.84.
