WHITTIER, Calif. – Junior transfer Brianna Alvarez (Montebello, Calif.) made history over the weekend breaking the Whittier College Softball career record for stolen bases in just one season.

Earlier in the season she broke the single season record for stolen bases but did one better as she put on a show combining for seven stolen bases over four games against La Verne and Occidental, which put her over the milestone.

She currently has 45 stolen bases, which leads the SCIAC and puts her within the Top 5 within all of Division III.

The single season record she broke was held by Lauren Martene from 2005, who totaled 29.  Then for the career record she beat out both Amanda Brown ('06-'09) and Paige Matsumoto ('85-'88) who both totaled 42 over their careers.
