CHINO, Calif. – Playing without freshman Taylor Beckwith (Turlock, Calif.) who was out due to illness, the Whittier College Women's Golf team was still able to edge Vassar College Wednesday 346-348 at Los Serranos Golf Club.

The win marks the second straight year Whittier has taken out Vassar College, while earning them their second win in a head to head match-up during Spring Break.

It was a battle throughout and it came down to the final pairing.  Kajal Vitha (Whittier, Calif.) came in first for the Purple & Gold shooting an 80, which edged out Vassar's top girl Qiwen Tan who finished with an 81.

Ciara Clark (Henderson, NV) came in with the first group as well and put in an 87 to place 4th overall.  Trailing going into the final grouping, it came down to Madison Crimi-Demichele (San Jose, Calif.) to spark some fireworks and that she did tallying an 85, which put Whittier on top, while putting her 3rd overall for the field.

Whittier's final scorer was Alison Nieh (Novato, Calif.) who came in at a 95.

Whittier returns to the tee for the second Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament on April 8-9 at Jurupa Hills Country Club.
