WHITTIER, Calif. - It was announced earlier today that the Whittier College men's and women's swimming & diving teams reached Scholar All-America status for the 2018 fall semester, as determined by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).  The Poets join more than 700 teams from 460 institutions in NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA divisions to receive this distinction.

In order to earn this honor, teams must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and maintain a roster of 12 or more student-athletes.

The 13 Poet women impressed in the classroom with a combined mark of 3.33 as one of 171 NCAA Division III women's teams to be recognized.  The 12 Whittier men owned a combined team GPA of 3.05 as one of 118 men's programs from Division III to receive the award for the fall.

The women's team has now earned this recognition for the ninth straight year.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) landed all nine men's programs and all nine women's programs among the CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams.
