Meagan Zamilpa named 1st Team All-SCIAC; Qualified for NCAA Championships

WHITTIER, Calif. – Freshman Meagan Zamilpa continues to add to her already impressive freshman resume as she garnered 1st Team All-SCIAC recognition as well as qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the very first time. 

Zamilpa played in all 21 matches this season playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with teammate Liliana Serylo.  She compiled a 15-3 singles record and a 10-8 doubles record on the year finishing 6-2 in SCIAC competition.  She was also 3-1 against Regional opponents and finished 9-1 in her final ten matches.

Throughout the season she also gathered impressive wins over ranked opponents including No. 20 Sammy Chao (Pomona-Pitzer), No. 4 Sara Zargham (Case Western Reserve), No. 23 Monica Li (Caltech), and No. 5 Jessica Ly (Redlands). 

She departs for Kalamazoo, Minnesota Wednesday morning to take part in the Division III NCAA Championships set to take place Thursday, May 23- Sunday, May 26 and is seeking the school's first women's tennis NCAA Individual Title.
