Head Track & Field coach Dave Hogan was inducted into the Valley Christian Coaches’ Hall of Fame Friday, November 2 capping off a spectacular coaching career at Valley Christian High School.

At halftime of the Whittier College football game on Saturday three Track & Field athletes were recognized for their accomplishments on and off the field along with a team being recognized for their academic achievement as a whole.

Women’s Track & Field grabs USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced this week the women’s 2012 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Whittier was one of 137 institutions who earned this distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.

Curbelo and Verduzco named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released today the All-Academic team’s for both the men and women and Whittier College saw both Kevin Curbelo and Christine Verduzco achieve recognition.

In Whittier College history no athlete has ever achieved two All-American honors, but sophomore Kevin Curbelo earned the first this afternoon as he finished 5th in the 400m to earn his second straight All-American recognition.

Sialaris opens up NCAA Championships with All-American finish in the Discus
Junior transfer Alyssa Sialaris opened up the Div. III NCAA Championships in track & field for the Poets with a stellar performance in the discus earning the first All-American honor for Whittier College by placing 5th out of twenty throwers putting her in position to complete what some would say would be one of the most impressive feats in women’s track & field history at Whittier College.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released their 2012 All-SCIAC teams for men’s and women’s track and field and Whittier landed four on the women’s side and six on the men’s to wrap up the SCIAC Championships.
