Records broken during Oxy Distance Carnival
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Whittier College men's and women's track and field distance runners competed in the Oxy Distance Carnival Friday evening and set fifteen personal best records and 31 seasonal bests in route to a strong finish.
On the women's side leading the way was Christine Verduzco breaking 18 minutes en route to a No. 2 performance on Whittier's All-Time list for the 5000m. Eva Aguilar achieved the 5th best performance in Whittier history in the 1500m, while Adrianna Davideck moved up to No. 6 on the All-Time list for the 5000m.
On the men's side heat winners Nathaniel Smauley and Joshua Ehinger stirred the crowd with inspiring wins in the 1500m, while Hayden Schmidt raced to a sub-16 minute 5K pace placing 2nd in his heat of the 5000m.
