Verduzco breaks 31 year old Whittier College 10,000 meter record

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College women's track & field team competed well at the CA/NV Championships over the past two days held at Claremont-M-S against a field that included Div. I, Div. II, and Div. III opponents.
Whittier was led by junior Christine Verduzco who set the 10,000m record for Whittier College as she placed 7th with a time of 37:57.62 at the high level meet. The old record was 31 years old and was held by Whittier College Hall of Famer Josie Candela who held the record previously with a time of 38:30.14.
Senior Adrianna Davideck also finished with a strong time in the 5000m finishing with a time of 19:06.54.
Junior Alyssa Sialaris continues to have a stellar season in the throwing events as she pushed her record in the Javelin to 135' 10" with a 4th place finish while also doing well in the Hammer (12th), Shot Put (14th), and Discus (11th) with near personal bests in all three with 156' 9", 41' 2.5", and 137' 7" marks, each respectively.
