Sialaris tagged SCIAC Field Athlete of the Year

WHITTIER, Calif. – Yesterday afternoon junior Alyssa Sialaris was tagged as the SCIAC Field Athlete of the Year after her strong performance at the SCIAC Championships this past weekend with two first place finishes and two second place finishes.
Sialaris, who comes to Whittier from San Jose, Calif. holds three of the four throwing records which she broke earlier in the year and looks to break the discus record in the final three meets. This year she set the shot put record at 43' 10.75", the javelin at 135' 10", the hammer at 160' 0" and is second all-time at Whittier College in the discus at 142' 1.25" closing in on Shuree Gangloff's record of 147' 5".
With these marks she has also qualified for the NCAA Championships coming in nationally ranked No. 12 in the shot put, No. 15 in the discus, No. 12 in the Javelin, and looks to move up in the discus from No. 32.
Throughout the year during conference dual meets she was the only athlete to compete in four individual events every meet for the entire year. She won her events 25 times out of a possible 28 and placed 2nd three times. She scored 134 total points out of a possible 140 and took a total of 72 attempts combined during these meets.
During the SCIAC Championships she won the hammer with a PR and new school record 160' 0", she won Discus with a throw of 141' 9", placed 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 121' 5", placed 2nd in the shot put with a PR and new school record of 43' 10.75" and scored 36 points out of a possible 40 and was the highest scoring athlete in the meet.
