Men's Soccer Shut Out by Chapman in Non-Conference Action

Whittier College men's soccer took a break in their SCIAC schedule and faced-off with Division III Independent, Chapman University at Donald E. Graham Soccer Field on October 1.  Chapman used a pair of goals in a ten minute period of the first half to catapult them to a 3-0 win.  The loss gives the Poets a 1-8-1 overall record.

Chapman struck for the first time in the 25th minute when Bo Dupar sent a 20-yard free kick into the near-post corner to give the Panthers all they would need for the win.  In the 34th minute, Garret Archer scored a goal assisted by Kevin DeCarvalho to double the Chapman lead before halftime.

Archer returned the favor in the second half, finding DeCarvalho for Chapman's final goal in the 51st minute.  The Poets had a number of good scoring opportunities.  Three of their five shots were on goal and they were awarded six corner kicks in the game.

The Poets return to conference play on October 3 when they travel to Los Angeles, Calif., to take on Occidental College.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
