Whittier College Men's Soccer saw its losing streak extend to
six games with a 3-0 loss to the University of Redlands in SCIAC
action at Graham Soccer Field on September 27. The Poets have
been shut out in their last three games as their record falls to
1-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half.
Whittier goalkeeper Paul Stepler-Camp '10 made all three of his
saves in the opening stanza. His counterpart, Evan Hobson
recorded two saves for the Bulldogs (4-4-1, 3-0-1).
Redlands showed their offensive power in the second half however,
as the perennial SCIAC frontrunners finished off the Poets with
three goals in the final 45 minutes. Steve Chenes broke the
scoreless tie with a goal on a corner kick in the 55th
minute. Cale Rodriguez gave the Bulldogs some insurance in
the 67th minute with an unassisted goal. Chenes
struck again seven minutes later on another corner kick to seal the
3-0 victory.
The Poets look to snap their losing streak and pick up their first
SCIAC win of the season against Pomona-Pitzer on October 1.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:00pm from the Graham Soccer
Field. Listen to the game live at www.sportsnetusa.net.
