REDLANDS, Calif. - The Whittier College
volleyball team lost its fourth Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference match in the last five outings on Saturday
afternoon as the University of Redlands went on for the 3-0 sweep.
One game after Whittier (4-6, 2-4 SCIAC) set a team-high with 12
blocks they only managed one against the Bulldogs. Redlands
finished the match with .340 attacking percentage.
The Poets were led by Aya Nakano who had a
team-high seven kills. She added one services ace and eight digs.
Vanessa Amran totaled 15 assists and had the
lone block solo of the match for the purple and gold.
Whittier committed 18 errors and had an attacking percentage of
-.022. The Poets managed only one kill in the first set and
combined for 15 in the second and third.
The first set score was 25-9, the second set was 25-15 and the
third set was 25-12. The second set saw seven ties and four lead
changes.
The Poets return to action on Tuesday, October 6, as they host
Pomona-Pitzer at 7:30 pm.
