CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Whittier College
volleyball team dropped its final game of the season, 3-0, to
Pomona-Pitzer on Tuesday evening. The Poets lost 25-16, 25-18,
25-14 in straight sets as the Sagehens completed the season sweep
of the purple and gold.
WC (9-16, 3-11 SCIAC) was led on the evening by Aya
Nakano who finished with nine kills on 27 attempts.
Vanessa Amran logged 17 of Whittier's 18 assists
and had seven digs.
Natalie Barajas has five kills and six digs
while Ashley Terich and Katie
Sharpe each had six digs.
As a team the Poets had a .075 attacking percentage with a
set-high .194 in the final frame. Whittier had 10 kills on 31
attempts with only four kills in the final set.
Pomona-Pitzer (14-13, 8-6 SCIAC) had a team attacking percentage
of .306 and had a match-high 16 kills in the third set.
