ORANGE, Calif. – The Whittier College
volleyball team battled back after a disappointing first set but
fell short in its bid to knock of Chapman on Tuesday evening as the
Panthers completed the season sweep of the Poets, 3-0.
Whittier was limited to just three Game 1 kills and lost 25-10.
The Poets had 36 attempts and finished with an attacking percentage
of -.028.
The purple and gold rebounded in Game 2 and put away 11 kills
but fell 25-22. WC improved its attacking percentage to .111. In
the final game of the evening, Whittier had 14 kills on 50 attempts
but lost 29-27.
Whittier was led by Courtney Dickerson who had
a team-high eight kills. Alayna Rigo and
Lindsey Kish each chipped in with six.
Vanessa Amran had a team-high 12 assists while
Ashley Terich finished the match with 11. Rigo had
one of the two aces on the night and accounted for 13 digs.
Alyssa Acosta had a team-high 14 digs.
The Poets will return to action this weekend at the Cal Lutheran
tournament.
