WHITTIER, Calif. – Despite a win over previously No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer last week, the Whittier College men's water polo team slid to No. 6 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III as announced today.
The Poets (10-12, 1-2 SCIAC) went 1-1 last week with a 6-5 win over the Sagehens and a 10-8 loss to then-No. 4 Claremont-M-S.
Redlands took over as the No. 1 team in the D-III pool having earned 98 points. Pomona-Pitzer picked up 95 points while Johns Hopkins remained No. 3 with 89 points. The Stags held strong at No. 4 with 82 points while MIT made the jump from No. 7 to No. 5 with 81 points.
Whittier earned 76 points which is three points higher than No. 7 Chapman. Occidental, Cal Lutheran and La Verne round out the Top 10.
This week the Poets have games against La Verne, Redlands and Cal Baptist.
