Water polo drops two; Fall to 0-3 in SCIAC

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College men's water polo team returned to the pool after a tough loss to Occidental where they lost by one, but had a long day as they fell to Pomona-Pitzer 13-4, and then U.C.L.A 20-0.

Game 1 (Pomona-Pitzer – L 13-4)

Pomona-Pitzer got up early in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead, but Cameron Rehm knocked in the first goal of the contest for the Poets late in the quarter to help cut the lead in half 2-1 going into the second.  As the second quarter got underway, the Sagehens used a 9-0 run to quickly lead 11-1 going into the half.

In the third quarter, Whittier tacked on another goal from Wes Paulson and then in the fourth Erick Gonzalez and Keary Schlactus added goals but it wasn't enough as Whittier now drops to 7-14 overall and 0-3 in SCIAC play.

Game 2 (U.C.L.A. L 20-0)

After falling to the Sagehens, Whittier had to turn right around to take on the No. 1 team in the nation in the likes of the Bruins of U.C.L.A but found it difficult to get in any rhythm throughout the contest as they fell 20-0.
