PASADENA, Calif. – The Whittier College volleyball team cruised to the easy sweep of Caltech Tuesday evening winning 25-11, 25-7, 25-8 posting the second best record in the Whittier College volleyball record books at 14-14, 5-10 SCIAC.

Alayna Rigo (Chino Hills, Calif.) was the lone player from either team to post double digit kills finishing with 11 on 17 attempts for a season high .588 hitting percentage, while collecting seven digs.  She was joined by freshman Casie Lowden (Glendora, Calif.) who posted nine on 19 attempts.

Alyssa Acosta (Whittier, Calif.) led the defensive unit with 13 digs, while freshman Jasmine Tong (Fullerton, Calif.) got the nod at setter finishing with a game high 15 assists.

Courtney DeLano (Riverside, Calif.) up front along with six kills and a .455 hitting percentage also totaled three blocks (2 Solo, 1 Assist).

Paige Logan led the Beavers with six kills to go with seven digs, while Rebekah Kitto finished with two kills. 

From start to finish it was all Whittier as they hit .321, .429, and .333 en route to the lopsided victory in just under an hour.

Whittier returns to the court for their final game of the 2013 season, this Friday, November 1 when they host La Verne at 7:30pm seeking to tie the winningest record in the Whittier College volleyball record books, which is 15, posted in 1997 when Kristi Vandenberg was the head coach.
