ORANGE, Calif. – With the final three game series starting this afternoon against the Panthers of Chapman University, Whittier saw their losing skid move to nine games after they fell 9-0 dropping their record to 11-22, 8-14 SCIAC.
Whittier for the ninth straight game struggled to bring runs across the plate seeing their bats held silent by the Panther pitching staff collecting just eight hits.
Thomas Hemington got the start and went three innings giving up seven runs. He was relieved by Michael Olmstead who put together five strong innings giving up just two unearned runs.
Chapman added four runs in the first inning and then tacked on three more over the next two and that would suffice as they would roll to the shutout victory.
Max Bradshaw finished 3-4 leading the offense, while Josh Genzuk and Ben Cerami finished with two hits apiece.
Whittier wraps up the three game series tomorrow at Memorial Field, Saturday, April 20 with a doubleheader beginning at 11:00am and 2:30pm.
