CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College men's basketball team saw Claremont-M-S drop 11 three pointers Saturday evening as they dropped their second straight game falling 87-67 dropping to 10-9, 4-6 SCIAC.
With the win CMS remains undefeated in conference play at 9-0, and improve their record to 14-4.
After a brief tie two minutes into the game, the Stags went ahead and led the rest of the game. They opened up a double-digit lead at the 15:17 mark in the first half 15-5 en route to leading 45-30 at the break.
CMS extended their lead to 25 with 3:51 to play in the contest before cruising to the 20 point victory. Stags held the advantage on the glass 36-24, while Whittier shot 45% from the field.
Three Poets finished in double figures led by Chris Barnes-Williams (Salt Lake City, UT) with 15 off the bench, while Tyree Landrum (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Nick Demusis (Mililani, HI) chipped in with 14 and 12 points, each respectively.
For CMS, Tyler Gaffney finished with a game high 28 points with four rebounds and four assists, while Remy Pinson tossed in 26 points on 8-11 shooting from deep.
Whittier remains on the road this Wednesday, as they travel to Claremont, Calif. to take on Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 7:30pm.
