LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Whittier College Men's Soccer team looked to avenge their earlier loss to Occidental College Monday evening but couldn't pull off the road win as they would fall 2-1 on a penalty kick in overtime.

Whittier has now lost two straight and is now 0-4-1 in their past five games as they drop to 3-11-1, 2-10-1 SCIAC.

With :22 seconds  remaining in the first overtime and the game all tied up at 1-1, Tod Kawada would draw a foul in the penalty box, which would give Elijah Remy the game-winner on a penalty kick.

After a scoreless first half the Purple & Gold would come out strong in the second and add the go ahead score off the foot of Jacob Conlon (Placentia, Calif.) who was fed by Ricardo Pena (Bell Gardens, Calif.).  This lead would hold until the nine minute mark when Oxy's Kawada crossed in a ball to Morgan Bennett-Smith who would put it away for the equalizer.

Whittier was outshot 20-14 on the game and was at a disadvantage on corner kicks 9-5. Jorge Rivas (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) finished with eight saves against 10 shots, while Conlon led the attack on shots with four.

Whittier returns home this Saturday, October 22 for Alumni Weekend when they take on Caltech beginning at 11:00am.
