REDLANDS, Calif. - The Whittier College Men's Soccer team faced a tough test against the University of Redlands Saturday falling 5-0 at Farquhar Field.
Both teams showed up ready to play as they each took seven shots in the first 20 minutes.
In the 22nd minute, the Bulldogs' Kayvon Parsa received a ball to the middle of the box, before taking a few touches around defenders and blasting it past Jorge Rivas (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) for the first score of the contest.
in the 37th minute, Redlands added their second goal. Alexander Knox took the ball to Whittier's corner and made a short cross to Will MacFarlane in front of the goal. MacFarlane then passed it out to Anthony Royer who put it through the posts.
This lead would hold into intermission as Whittier was outshot 13-8.
Parsa and Casey ChubbFertal would combo for the next two goals that moved the score to 4-0 and Kamal Bilal would cap off the scoring with a goal with three minutes to play that secured the lopsided victory.
Whittier was outshot 29-14 on the afternoon and UR held the advantage on corner kicks 11-1.
James Suri (Lake Forest, Calif.) led the Poets on offense with four shots and freshman Matteo Loi (Kirkland, WA) finished with three.
Rivas played all 90:00 and registered five saves in the loss.
Whittier returns home to the Graham Soccer Field this Wednesday, September 21 as they host Claremont-M-S beginning at 7:00pm.
