CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College Men's Track & Field team continues to look strong as they put together a great finish at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in preparation for the SCIAC No. 3 meet this weekend.
Joshua Minnie had a big day for the Purple & Gold. After winning his heat and running a PR in the 1500, he came back to run a 1:56.87 to move into 9th in the SCIAC standings.
KamRon Perry (San Jose, Calif.) (1:59.60) and William Howells (Webster Grove, MO) (1:57.16) both came in under two minutes for the 800 Meter, while Julian Sandoval (El Monte, Calif.) continues to impress winning the 5,000m clocking in at a 14:57.31.
Craig Rogers (Whittier, Calif.) ran his first collegiate 400 Hurdles in 1:00.22 placing him 10th in the SCIAC currently.
Ray Ray Roberson (Albuquerque, NM) went 1.80 meters in the high jump to get 5th in his flight.
Miguel Redmond (San Jose, Calif.) went 4.05m in the pole vault to get 3rd in his flight.
Andrew Jimenez (Tehachapi, Calif.) led a trio of Poet hammer throwers to PR's in the event winning his flight, while freshman Gilbert Hernandez (Menifee, Calif.) eclipsed the 30 meter mark in the hammer with sophomore Theodore Ragsac (West Hills, Calif.) going over 25 meters.
Jimenez and Ragsac also PR'd in the discus throw—122'6" and 88'8" respectively.
Whittier hosts this weekend's SCIAC No. 3 meet at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, April 15.
