WHITTIER, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2021) – Senior center Kyle Price (Rocklin, Calif. / Cal Maritime Academy) had his greatest offensive performance of the season to date when the Whittier College men's basketball team traveled to the University of Redlands on Wednesday evening.

The Poets' big man scored 22 points in 31 minutes of work, shooting a hearty 10-for-16 from the field, working on the Bulldogs from both inside and outside. The senior's inside game proved to be a difference maker, as he notched 12 rebounds to complete the double-double, seven of which came on the offensive end. He was also one of the Poets' top defensive players statistically speaking, coming away with a pair of steals and a pair of blocks. Price's work on the glass proved to be a bright spot in that area for the visitors, who were forced to contend with a scrappy Bulldogs team in front of their home crowd.

Senior guard Ahmad Young (Sunnyvale, Calif. / De Anza College) also put up strong offensive numbers for the Poets, scoring 19 points on plus-50 percent shooting while adding six rebounds and a pair of assists. The offensive boosts from the seniors helped keep the game from getting somewhat competitive, but the Bulldogs shot the ball as well as they had all season to date, though Whittier did maintain control of the game through the first 15 minutes of the first half. It was here that Price did the majority of his damage offensively, scoring 15 points shooting an excellent 7-for-9 from the field. Junior guard Bryant Howing (Hacienda Heights, Calif. / Rio Hondo College) also had a nice first half, scoring eight of his 12 points during this span. The junior also had three steals to lead the visiting team and will undoubtedly be key for the Poets when the host Redlands in the rematch on Feb. 2, 2021.

Head Coach Mark Jensen and the Poets will look get back on the winning track when they travel to Pasadena on Saturday, Dec. 4 to meet Caltech for a 2 p.m. SCIAC game.
