Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2022) - Whittier fell to Pomona-Pitzer, 2-0, Wednesday evening in a physical SCIAC contest.
Senior goakeeper Lachlan Davidson started for the Poets, saving five shots, including a brilliant stop in the 40th minute to preserve a then 0-0 tie. The Portland native received his first loss of the season in his second start and possesses a 1.81 goals-against average this year.
About a minute after Davidson's dazzling save, the Sagehens struck, scoring their first goal of the match.
Pomona-Pitzer would score again in the 51st minute for the only other goal of the game.
Senior defender Hayden Barnouw led Whittier in shots (three) and shots on goal (two).
The Poets complete their string of three consecutive road matches Saturday, Oct. 15 at Occidental (7 p.m.).
