Box Score REDLANDS, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2022)- Whittier traveled to Redlands to take on the Bulldogs tonight for a SCIAC match. The Poets entered riding a two-game winning streak but ultimately fell 13-11.
The first began, and the teams proved that this was going to be a battle. As the quarter ended, the score was 4-3 Bulldogs. Three different Poets found the back of the net in the quarter, including Ricky Reyes Jr., Kaan Hamurculu and Harrison Eaton.
Whittier then began to take control of the game during the second. They played a great defensive quarter and only allowed two goals to Redlands. Meanwhile, Eaton scored twice more to bring his game total to three. Shropshire also found the back of the goal twice in this period. Going into the half, Whittier had an 8-6 lead.
The third opened and Ethan Saenz quickly took advantage of a power play to score his first goal. Redlands would only score once this period, and Whittier held a 9-7 lead going into the fourth.
The Bulldogs then took over the fourth. They were able to score four unanswered goals to start and took their first lead in the game since the score was 4-3. Reyes was able to score two goals of his own, but it was too little too late and the Bulldogs won 13-11.
The Poets fell to 2-5 in conference play, once again led in goals by Reyes, who had four, while Eaton scored three and Shropshire registered two.
Whittier's next game will be next Wednesday Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. when it hosts the Occidental Tigers.
