Nickerson Shuts Out Caltech in Draw

Box Score

WHITTIER, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2022) -  Whittier played Caltech to a 0-0 draw at Memorial Stadium Wednesday night.

Poets senior goalie Teddy Nickerson was outstanding in goal, recording his eighth career collegiate shutout and first of the season. He saved all five shots on goal the Beavers sent his way during the contest.

Senior Nainoa Loschky used some fancy dribbles to break free at point-blank range in the first half and unleash a strong shot. It went straight at the goalie, however, and resulted in a save. Loschky had three more shots on goal throughout the evening, none as promising, and he could not get any to find net.

Freshman Rowan Slater was also active offensively, taking four shots himself, and three on goal. The midfielder was coming off of a two-assist match against the University of Redlands.

Whittier hosts Occidental at 7 p.m. Saturday in the second half of a Poets-Tigers soccer doubleheader at Memorial Stadium.
