Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2022)- Whittier traveled to Claremont for their last road regular season conference game of the year, falling 15-11, despite strong performances from Ricky Reyes Jr. and Harrison Eaton.
The first period was a scoring frenzy for both teams. CMS was able to net five goals, while the Poets poured in three of their own. Three different Poets were able to score in this period including Reyes, Eaton and Patrick Seelhorst.
CMS then took control of the game during the second period. The Stags scored four goals in this period, and Whittier could only find the back of the net once. Going into halftime the score was 9-4 CMS.
The third period started and both teams went on an offensive clinic. CMS opened with quick back-to-back goals, but then the Poets answered with two of their own. The Stags then netted another one to take a 12-6 lead. Whittier, however, was not done fighting. Seelhorst and Reyes were able to score two late goals in the period to cut the CMS lead to 12-8.
Whittier continued to fight back as the fourth began scoring the first two goals of the period. However, CMS pulled away at the end taking the game 15-11. Reyes once again had an amazing game scoring five goals while assisting another. Eaton was able to score three goals, and Seelhorst came away with two.
The Poets play their last regular season conference game this Saturday at home at 11:00 a.m. Prior to the contest, both teams' graduating seniors will be honored.
