LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Mar. 7, 2022) – Sophomore first baseman Emily Adkison (Laguna Niguel, Calif. / Mater Dei) had a huge weekend at the dish for the Whittier College softball team and earned SCIAC Hitter of the Week honor for her performance against the University of Redlands during this weekend's series.

Adkison hit .538 for the week with three runs scored, two home runs, and six RBI. She also had a .500 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage in the series with the Bulldogs. In Saturday's series finale, Adkison was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and a homer. She notched four of her RBI in the 20-10 win over Redlands earlier that same day.

Adkison and the Poets will look to keep the momentum going when they play six games at Palmer Field next week, beginning with a doubleheader against the Carnegie Mellon University on Wednesday, Mar. 9 beginning at 12:30 p.m.
