Box Score WHITTIER, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2022) - Whittier lost, 3-0, at home to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a midweek contest that was much more competitive than the final score indicates.
The match was scoreless until the Stags' Justin Blachman's goal in the 52nd minute. Then, CMS scored two more goals in the 61st minute.
There were only 10 shots on goal Wednesday night, and the breakdown shows how competitive the match was: CMS had six to Whittier's four.
The most positive takeaway for the Poets is that key contributor sophomore forward Lawrence Dydell began the second half and played much of it after leaving the field less than 20 minutes into the match, clutching his left shoulder.
The Poets' next chance to record their first conference win of the season comes Saturday, 7 p.m. at the University of Redlands.
