Box Score WHITTIER, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2023) - On Senior Day Saturday afternoon, the Poets honored seniors Lizzie Scriven and Kyra Davis, but fell to the Caltech Beavers, 61-51.
Prior to the game, both departing seniors posed for photographs with their loved ones on Dave Jacobs Court and were gifted with framed pictures of themselves.
Scriven had a strong game, recording four steals, eight points and three assists, draining two three-pointers Saturday.
Davis also played well, securing two rebounds, including one of the offensive variety, in five minutes.
Rhe Nae Leach tallied her sixth double-double of the season, tallying 13 points and 14 rebounds (five offensive). Leach also contributed four assists, three steals and two blocks. Lainie James added 17 points and six rebounds.
Junior Natalia Williams exploded for a career-high 10 points (3-5 FG, 2-3 3PT) and career-high three rebounds in 18 minutes. Her previous scoring high was five against La Verne on Nov. 30, 2022.
The Poets outrebounded the Beavers, 39-37, on the day.
Whittier plays Cal Lutheran on the road Wednesday night (7 p.m.) before finishing its season at Chapman on Saturday at 2 p.m.
