WHITTIER, Calif. (Mar. 9, 2024) – The Whittier College women's lacrosse team faced off against one of the toughest teams in the country on the road and senior goalie
Haley Hughes-Gil (Shaker Heights, Ohio / Shaker Heights) came away with a big night in net.
The senior goalie had a season-high 11 saves playing against the toughest team the Poets are likely to see this season. Even splitting time in net, Hughes-Gil is already on pace to set a career high in saves. As things pertain to the Pomona-Pitzer game, the senior also picked up two ground balls.
Whittier's lone goal of the game came courtesy of junior
Juliana Hodgson (Fullerton, Calif. / Sunny Hills), who once again showed she can be dangerous with the ball in her possession. The junior netted another unassisted goal, which now gives her goals in all but one game this season, giving her a potent start to her women's lacrosse career at the intercollegiate and Division III levels.
Head Coach
Leslie Escobar and the Poets will take a short break from the conference schedule when they host games this week against Whitman College and Edgewood College.
