LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (Feb. 7, 2025) – Junior
Connor Rocha (Paso Robles, Calif. / Paso Robles / Cuesta College) of the Whittier College men's swimming & diving team led the Poets as one of the team's best all-around performers on a historic Senior Day meet on Saturday afternoon.
Rocha helped his team to multiple victories in Saturday's double dual meet with the University of Redlands and Occidental College. It marked the first time in Head Coach
Michael Jafari's tenure, as well as the first time in program history that the Poets have taken down multiple SCIAC opponents in a double dual setting. Whittier defeated Occidental 175-101 and Redlands 141-130.
The result with the Bulldogs came down to the final relay event: the men's 200 Free Relay. Rocha swam to an awesome 20.74 50 Free split to help put the Purple & Gold over the top. He also tailed talented teammate
Honza Zika in the men's 100 Fly, helped the Men's 200 Medley Relay team to a second-place finish and won the 50 Free with a 21.50 time that will set him to make a run at some Whittier Top 10's as the season winds down.
Rocha and the Poets will now begin preparations for the 2026 SCIAC Championships, which is projecting to be a history-making one on all accounts for the men's and women's programs.
