Cooper Champagne is serving as an Administrative Graduate Assistant within the Athletics Department while pursuing a master's in Education from Whittier College.

Champagne had a successful four-year playing career for the Poets, playing in 44 games between 2016-2020. In 2019, Champagne became a captain and helped lead the Purple & Gold to a record-setting 13-3 season. Champagne finished his career with 20 goals, 10 assists, 130 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers.

Champagne played lacrosse and Grossmont High School in La Mesa, California. He helped lead the team to three league championships in 2014, 2015, & 2016. In 2015, he also helped lead the team to its Division I semifinal appearance. Champagne was awarded First-Team All-League honors in 2014, 2015, and 2016. In 2016, Champagne served as team captain, received the Grossmont League player of the year, along with being a member of the Academic All-American team. He also played club lacrosse for LaxDawgs.

Champagne was born on December 23rd, 1997, in La Mesa, California. He is the son of Erin and Jimmy Pettit along with two sisters, Andrea, and McKenna. He majored in Child Development while at Whittier, minoring in Organizational Leadership.
