Coach Gutierrez is entering his second stint here at Whittier College, this time as the wide receivers coach. Back in 2022 he was tasked with coaching the offensive line, where he was able to coach Mathias Talavou to a Second Team All-SCIAC selection. In his playing days, Coach Gutierrez played his prep years at local St. Paul High School under Coach Rick Zepeda. He decided to continue his career at Pasadena City College, where he earned an All-Academic team selection. Coach then transferred to Whittier College in the fall of 2020 to continue his academic and athletic journey. In the fall of 2021, Coach would ultimately make the transition to tight end. After the 2022 academic year, Coach earned his Bachelors in Kinesiology. He then decided to continue his schooling by attending Crown College in St Bonifacius, MN and earned his Masters degree in Exercise Science and Sports Performance in 2024. In hopes of attaining his professional goals, Coach decided to return to school this time working towards his doctoral degree focusing again on Exercise Science from Concordia, St. Paul in St. Paul, MN. With the revival of Poet football, Coach is excited to see what the future holds
