Whittier College

Lance Franey is in his second year as a member of the PoetsTennis Team being the only Senior on the squad.  He was bornin San Diego, CA.  He began his tennis career as a freshman atSteele Canyon High School where he played four years of varsitytennis but didn't begin playing seriously until his Junioryear.  At Steele Canyon, he earned 1st-Team Honors three timeshis Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Year while he helped lead histeam to three Grossmont South League Titles and four C.I.F. Births,while making 1st-Team All-Academic Team for the GrossmontConference his Junior and Senior year.  He then attendedSouthwestern Community College where he played two years receivingAll-Conference Honors his Sophomore Year compiling a 15-3 record inSingles and a 13-5 record in Doubles.  While he attendedSouthwestern College he also received the Male Student Athleteof the Year Honors compiling a 3.9 cumulative G.P.A. during hisFreshman and Sophomore Year as well as obtaining an A.A.Degree in Adm. of Justice.  He is majoring in ChildDevelopment with the hopes of becoming an elementaryschool teacher, and then hopefully becoming an AthleticDirector or Head Tennis Coach at the collegiate level. He has five siblings: Laura (35), Lynn (35), John (29), Janet(26), and Jordan (21), but he owes his accomplishments to hisparents Jamie & Larry Franey who pushed him to excel bothwithin the classroom and on the court.
