Trisha (McCormick) Senyo was named the Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator and Head Softball Coach at Whittier College in 2018. She oversees all NCAA and SCIAC compliance matters, monitors student-athlete eligibility, provides regular compliance education to all student-athletes, staff and coaches and prepares all annual compliance reports. She is also serving as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics and is a liaison with campus offices regarding student-athlete development, recruitment and academic success.
Trisha was selected for the Division III SWA Program in 2023, is the current Chair for the NCAA Softball Playing Rules Committee, is serving her second term as the SCIAC Regional Advisory Committee representative as well as active member of NADIIIA, WeCoach and the Women Leaders in Sports.
During her eight years (5.5 seasons) leading the Purple & Gold her teams have combined to go 114-95 overall record with a top 5 ranking in SOS within Region X. Those seasons have amassed a total of 20 All-Conference nominees, three All-Region nominees and two NCAA Statistical Leader awards. Additionally notched 55 NFCA Academic All-American with three years as NFCA Academic Team.
In her first season at Chaffey she turned the program around from a losing record to a 26-14-1, 11-4 SCC finish and a berth into the West Regional. That season the Panthers led the Foothill Conference in triples (24), stolen bases (73), slugging percentage (.461), as well as finishing 2nd in batting average, hits, runs batted in, total runs and tied for home runs (9). Defensively, the Panthers lead conference in fielding percentage (.938), strike outs (129) and team ERA (3.08). The 2016 roster also broke a few Chaffey program records including stolen bases, triples, and team ERA in a season as well as single-season stolen bases (23). The program also proudly announced one NFCA Academic All-American. This past year (2017) the Panthers finished 15-23, 3-9 SCC.
Senyo spent the 2014-2015 season at Riverside City College as her introduction to the CCCAA and worked primarily with infielders, hitters and the battery. Prior to RCC, Senyo was the First Assistant Coach at Sonoma State University (SSU) from 2010-2014. In addition to her softball duties, Senyo was the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the department and worked with many of SSU's 13 intercollegiate teams including Men's and Women's Golf, and Men's and Women's Soccer, all of which saw post-season competition.
On the softball field, Senyo was instrumental in helping the Seawolves to a program-record 43 wins in her first season in 2010, then 149 more wins in each of the following four seasons, to go along with 2 back-to-back CCAA tournament championships and 5 NCAA tournament appearances. The Seawolves were nationally ranked in the top 25 three out of the five seasons. . Senyo assisted in the program in achieving 24 All-Conference selections, 20 All-Region selections, three All-Americans as well as setting new records for single season home runs, team batting average, on base percentage, most hits, total bases and walks as well as increasing team totals for stolen bases from an average of 54 to 139 within a season.
Prior to her stint at Sonoma State, she served as the assistant coach at Whittier College alongside head coach Jennifer Bridges, helping the Poets to a 24-18 record in 2009 and the program’s first ever SCIAC Tournament appearance.
Trisha graduated from the University of La Verne (Cum Laude)’08 with departmental honors and a B.A. in Studio Art and was a four-year letter winner on the softball team, while earning All-SCIAC honors. She recently completed her M.S. in Fitness and Sports Nutrition from Canisius College. She also holds a USAW Level 1 Club Coach Certification.
She currently resides in La Verne, CA with her husband Mike Senyo and son Nikolai.
