Men’s Track & Field: Poets have strong finishes at All Comers

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College Men's Track & Field team put out a strong effort during the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers meet this past Saturday.    

Hakim Williams Jr. (Riverside, Calif.) had two huge performances on the day to lead the Purple & Gold.  He started in the 110mH finishing 6th with a time of 15.53.  He then came back later in the High Jump and took 5th with a mark of 6'00.75". 

Cooper Tirado (Kupolei, HI) had a strong finish in the 400m finishing 6th with a time of 50.72. 

In the throws, Somaan Iqbal (Bakersfield, Calif.) finished 15th in the Discus (107'07") and 10th in the Javelin (135'07").  He was joined by Gabriel Contreras in the Discus (106'02") and Gabriel Pridgen-Daniels (Sacramento, Calif.) in the Javelin (130'10").  In the 4x100 Relay, the team of Michael Badillo (Brea, Calif.), Paul Trejo (Whittier, Calif.), Kurt Vanegas (Riverside, Calif.), and Mason Gaw (Redlands, Calif.) took 5th with a time of 3:38.07. 

Eli Bedford (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished 15th in the 400mH with a time of 1:00.91 and Benjamin White (Whittier, Calif.) led the distance going 33rd in the 3000m (9:01.58).               

Whittier returns to competition this Saturday, February 23 as they return to Claremont, Calif. to take part in the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Rossi Relays beginning at 10:00am.
