2019 Women's Golf Schedule

WHITTIER, Calif. – The 2019 Whittier College Women's Golf Schedule was released Thursday, which has the Poets traveling to Arizona and competing all over California before ending up in Pasadena for the third and final portion of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships.

The Purple & Gold who were red hot in the fall finishing 5th at the CA State Intercollegiate, 2nd at the CMS Invite, and being edged for 3rd at the ERAU Co-Ed Invitational comes into 2019 ranked No. 10 according to the Golfstat Division III National Rankings.

The Poets will be tested early as they get their first taste at SCIAC competition February 16-17 during SCIAC No. 1.  The two-day event is set to take place at Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills, Calif. 

Then in March the Purple & Gold travel to two tournaments.  They begin with a trip to Peoria, AZ on March 17-18 for the George Fox Westbrook Invite (Westbrook Village G.C.) before going out to Palm Springs over Spring Break for the OGIO Bulldog Classic on March 25-26 (Indian Springs G.C.).  Last year the Poets finished 7th at the George Fox Westbrook Invite despite having the 5th, 6th and 7th place teams all finishing within two strokes of each other.  Then at the OGIO they placed 8th, where they upset No. 8 Berry College, while finishing ahead of eight other teams.

The final two scheduled tournaments for the Poets are the second and third parts of the SCIAC Championships.  They begin with SCIAC No. 2 on April 7-8 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. at Olivas Links G.C. before taking on Brookside G.C. in Pasadena, Calif.  over three Days on April 18-20 during the SCIAC Championships. 

The 2019 season comes to an end with the NCAA Championship being held on May 14-17 in Houston, Texas.

Whittier looks to lean on five players who earned individual national rankings within the Top 150 according to Golfstat.  These players include Kajal Vitha (No. 13), Taylor Beckwith (No. 30), Kamryn Marie Garcia (No. 70), Madison Crimi-Demichele (No. 84), and Natalie Gonzalez (No. 147).
