Taylor Beckwith drops into 15th at NCAA Championships

HOUSTON, TX – Bay Oaks Country Club was playing tough Wednesday afternoon during round two action at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Taylor Beckwith (Turlock, Calif.) who came in at +1 and sitting in 2nd Place overall had a tough day facing hot conditions as she posted an 80, which dropped her into a tie for 15th.  She is +9 for the Championships but is still in striking distance trailing four players at +8, two players at +7, five players at +6 and the leaders at +5.  After today's round the field will be cut down as the Top 15 Teams will advance and the next six individuals not from those teams will take part in the final round.

Beckwith, who totaled five birdies, which led the field after Day 1 added another three birdies during her second round.  She was +5 on the back and +3 on the front, and totaled six pars.  She ranks No. 1 in Par 3 scoring at 2.88 (-1), No. 2 in Par 5 scoring at 4.88 (-1) and leads the field with eight birdies. 

Taylor begins her third round today, Thursday, May 16.  She tees off at 2:20pm beginning on the back nine in a threesome with Erica Whitehouse (Christopher Newport – T4) and Bailey Plourde (Centre College – T4).
