GRINNELL, Iowa – Freshman Megan Thai (Alhambra, Calif.) put together an impressive first day at the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals Friday placing 5th on the 3-Meter.
Out of the field of 14 divers, Thai took 5th with a score of 371.60, edging out Claremont-M-S' Jacquelyn Desmond (369.75). Across the event she averaged a 5.65 and had an average round score of 33.78.
In just her first year with the Purple & Gold, Thai led the diving contingent. She participated on the 3-meter board five times during the regular season, winning head-to-head match-ups with Pomona-Pitzer, Occidental College, University of La Verne, Caltech, Mills, Chapman University, University of Redlands, and California University.
After that she proved to be the top 3-meter diver in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) by taking top honors during the SCIAC Championships.
