VENTURA, Calif. – Senior Kindall Yeung (Brea, Calif.) and junior Amanda Rodriguez (Glendora, Calif.) represented the Whittier College Women's Tennis team over the weekend at the Ojai Championships.

The duo did well in doubles taking part in the Division III Invitational draw.  They opened with a bye in the Round of 32 before taking on UC Santa Cruz' Kayla Manz and Ines Pelvang in the Round of 16.  They pulled off the win 6-3, 6-2 but then had to face the top seeded team of Zoe Kaffen and Mary Kaffen from Trinity in the Quarterfinals.  They fought but couldn't pull off the upset falling 6-3, 6-2 to the eventual Champions.  They did however pull off the most games against the top-seed in the entire draw.

Both Yeung and Rodriguez fell in the Round of 32.  Rodriguez managed just one game against Brennan Foreman (Cal Lutheran) falling 6-0, 6-1 and Yeung dropped a tight 6-4, 6-4 match against Vasilisa Trofimova (Chapman).  In the backdraw Rodriguez was once again faced with a tough task of playing Vivian Lee (UC Santa Cruz).  She won the opening set 6-3 but couldn't keep the momentum going as she fell 6-0 and then 11-9 in the third set super tie-breaker.

Yeung on the other hand found success in her first match beating Savana McDowell from UC Santa Cruz 6-2, 6-3 before being taken out by Oxy's Katie Wolber 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the Quarterfinals.

Whittier finished the year off 5-12, 1-6 SCIAC.  They posted wins over Mills, Hardin-Simmons, Southwest Missouri State, Principia, Willamette, Pacific Lutheran, and Occidental.
