WHITTIER, Calif. – Whittier College Director of Tennis Kristin Yep was just announced by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Thursday as the SCIAC Coach of the Year.

In just her second season, Yep and her staff earned the 2019 SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year award. After finishing 0-7 in conference play and two wins overall a year ago, Yep helped guide the Poets to five wins this year, highlighted by a 7-2 victory over Occidental. The win was the third in a string of three straight victories for Whittier between March 24 and March 29, with the other two wins coming against Willamette and Pacific Lutheran.

They also added wins over Hardin-Simmons, Southwest Missouri State (Exhibition), and were leading against Principia 3-0 before the match was called.
