WHITTIER, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-SCIAC teams for Volleyball were announced Monday and Whittier College saw senior Makenzie Thieme (Corona, Calif.) named to the 2nd Team.
This is the second straight year Thieme has found herself on an All-SCIAC team being named 1st Team back in 2017. Here in 2018 Thieme led the Purple & Gold to a 16-12, 9-7 SCIAC record and a 6th place finish in the final SCIAC Standings.
Thieme finished this season playing in 28 matches collecting 364 kills averaging 3.47 kills per set and hitting .208. She added 14 assists and 19 service aces along with 23 blocks. She was a dual threat as well playing in the backrow registering 170 digs averaging 1.62 digs per set. On the season she collected 394.5 points averaging 3.8 points per set.
In conference she ranked No. 1 in total attacks, No. 2 in kills, No. 3 in kills per set, No. 3 in points, and No. 4 in points per set. This season she was also recognized by the conference as the SCIAC Athlete of the Week twice. Out of her 28 matches she recorded double digit kills in 24 of them with a season high coming against Cal Lutheran on the road where she posted 20 kills with 12 digs.
